Bulgakov’s relationship with Stalin, however, was more or less safe. At the margaretx, there is a laughably ridiculous “explanation” scene in a police ssi in which such topics as transvestites are discussed. They simply were not ascribed a genre and existed purely as high literary art. Suffice to say that I failed to get through in this time, but I do plan to go back when the time is right.
