Affait was a perfect summer afrair Overall, I wouldn’t overly recommend this book.

I loved the way the affair was described emotionally, the euphoria, the guilt, the lack of guilt, then the judgement. As an artist, Claire knows that creating something of value and beauty requires sacrifice, love and a strong will.

And, she’s deceiving the people she loves. Return to Book Page. Her lover, Lock, encourages Claire to create a beautiful museum quality piece of stained glass. I found it odd that they were together affair almost a year and yet her husband never got suspicious at all. The lead character, Claire, we’re supposed to ‘root’ for despite her affair and yet I kept rooting for her to get caught because way too much came too easily to her and she seemed to not appreciate anything.

Many times I finish a book wanting more, wishing that there was another book about the same characters so I can see what happens next in their lives, but with A Summer Affair I could care less I just wanted it to end. She was very guilt ridden over things that were obviously not her fault, and she was a little too “good” for me to believe it.

I really liked this book. Looking forward to reading this one at some point.

All her worst choices evidently were in her past, and here she was still being pretty much the immature housewife. Claire has always felt some responsibility for not insisting she take a cab with the rest of the ladies. I would have been, too.

A SUMMER AFFAIR by Elin Hilderbrand | Kirkus Reviews

I was having a hard time relating to the main character, Claire, a mother of 4 and wife to a husband that seems absolutely wonderful with his only downfall being that he watches a little too much TV rather than talk to her.

This is a story that I would not want to put even on my worst enemies, it just bothers me that much. If a comment smacks of advertising, contains a dubious link or is offensive, it will be deleted. I think there was just a little too much infidelity and selfishness in this one for my taste. I’d have liked a few more laughs, but in general I liked the tone of the book. This one was just a little too blah compared to some of her other reads.

The main character, Claire is a mother affaif four and is a professional Glass Blower. I loved the way you put it — “scandalous and carefree”. I just wish I could have sunk deeper into the characters, felt true angst for them, felt their joys and sorrows and especially their doubts more profoundly.
